Activated Carbon Filters
Our Activated Carbon Filters (ACF) are high-efficiency systems specifically engineered for the comprehensive water treatment process. These units are designed, manufactured, and supplied to provide a reliable solution for purifying water across various industrial and commercial settings.
Key Features and Advantages
- Comprehensive Filtration
- Expertly removes unwanted odour, colour, and free chlorine from water sources.
- Organic Compound Removal
- Highly effective at eliminating organic compounds to ensure high-purity output.
- User-Friendly Operation
- Designed to be easy to operate, reducing complexity for on-site staff.
- Customizable Application
- We manufacture and supply these units to be adaptable for use in various places depending on the specific application needs of our clients.
Why Use Activated Carbon Filters?
1. Exceptional Surface Area
The "activation" process (heating carbon to high temperatures with steam) creates millions of microscopic pores. A single gram of activated carbon can have a surface area of over 500 m2 to 1,500 m2. This massive surface area provides more "parking spots" for contaminants to settle.
2. Removal of Chlorine and VOCs
Activated carbon is the gold standard for removing:
- Chlorine/Chloramines: Used in city water but causes a chemical taste and odor.
- Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): Industrial chemicals, pesticides, and solvents that can be harmful to health.
3. Improving Aesthetic Quality
It is highly effective at removing compounds that make water look cloudy (color) or smell like "rotten eggs" (hydrogen sulfide), resulting in crisp, clean-tasting water.
4. Protecting Other Equipment
In industrial settings, carbon filters are often used as "pre-filters" to protect sensitive equipment like Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes from being damaged by chlorine oxidation.
Applications
| Sector | Primary Applications |
|---|---|
| Residential | Fridge filters, faucet-mounted purifiers, and whole-house filtration systems. |
| Industrial | Pre-treatment for boiler feed water, wastewater effluent "polishing," and air scrubbing to remove toxic gas. |
| Food & Beverage | Decolorizing sugar syrups, purifying water for soft drinks, and removing odors from bottled water. |
| Medical | Used in dialysis machines to clean blood and in emergency rooms (as a powder) to treat certain poisonings. |
| Environmental | Groundwater remediation and capturing emissions from landfills or biogas engines. |
